Preromanticism is a literary trend appeared in England and Europe,on 18th century. A culture that is thought to have prepared the ground for Romanticism in its full sense. In various ways, these is the departure from the orderly framework of neoclassicism and its authorized genres.  This period includes writers such as: Edward Young, Thomas Gray, George Crabbe...etc. The most important constituent of preromanticism is the Sturm und Drang phase of German literature; the primitivism of Jean-Jacques Rousseau; the cult of sensibility in the sentimental novel; the taste for the sublime and the picturesque in landscape.

Some writers of this current, had a very big interest on topics such as: 

-faith in the instinctive goodness of human beings

-interest in kindness toward animals                                                           

-interest in the state of nature 

-period of the Revolution (specially France)...etc
